Christchurch Kyudo Dojo
The Christchurch Kyudo Group was established by Dieter Anke, 5-Dan, and Carol Anke, 3-dan at the Christchurch Archery Club in 2002. It is now part of the Christchurch Budokai. As members of the New Zealand Kyudo Federation we promote Kyudo as taught by the Zen Nippon Kyudo Renmei (All Nippon Kyudo Federation) under the auspices of the International Kyudo Federation.
We are a small group of practitioners aiming to develop Kyudo in Christchurch. Our dojo aims to replicate as closely as possible the environment of a traditional Budo hall, and our members are responsible for maintaining an atmosphere of solemn disciple as outlined in The Budo Charter, to which the ANKF subscribes.
The study of Kyudo has two dimensions: Sha (shooting) and Rei (etiquette). Both are equally important and no proficiency can be obtained without showing progress in both.
