About the Budokai
The Budokai is a friendship group, is run by volunteers and is non-profit. The Budokai has no leader and is a group of dojos rather than a group of individuals. All member dojos are equal within the group and there will be no chance for any one dojo to influence the others. In sister city exchanges with Budo dojos in Kurashiki, a representative of the Christchurch-Kurashiki Sister City Committee will be in charge of organising aspects of the exchange and member dojos should be cooperative with this. The Budokai is not a part of nor is controlled by the Sister City Committee and no dojo will be forced to do anything against their wishes.
The Budokai brings Budo dojos together so chances for inter-cultural exchange are maximised and inter-dojo exchange and friendships are made more possible. The Christchurch-Kurashiki sister city relationship is also involved in strengthening relationships between dojos and people in Christchurch and in Kurashiki, and the Budokai is part of this.
